The Dwarvan Wedding Ring
It is known that none can call forth the magic in metal like one of Dwarvan blood or Dwarvan training. Lisski of the Deepfind Kin was not only Dwarvan born and trained, but she was the fifth daughter of a fifth daughter. As such, much magic and wonder was expected of Lisski. With glorious goals set for her, it was easy to fail—and Lisski seemed only to succeed in failing. Despite apprenticeships with the greatest smiths and masters, Lisski's blades and spades only occasionally reached average worth. Her gemwork was markedly better, but none outside the family would trust their precious stones and metals to a girl who couldn't even make a decent shovel. Her appearance too was a source of disappointment: while possessing a countenance pleasing to the eye, she never grew in stature past the shoulder of her mother. Her small and frail frame left her unable to contribute her fair share of the workload. So it was with great shame she accepted the child's chore of bringing food and water to the mineworkers.

One day, Lisski's father noticed her tarrying at her task: the water buckets were long dry, yet she seemed to stand idly by. He was soon to know the reason: one of the miners had taken notice of Lisski, and she returned his attentions eagerly. Irasci of the Strikehammer Kin had recently arrived from the Western Mountains of White. He too was small, and had suffered many taunts and insults for it. Enduring this cruelty produced in him a resolve to work twice as hard—as well as a temper that flared twice as fiercely. It was for this reason Irasci sought his fortune far from his homeland. It wasn't long before he met Lisski, and it was not long after that before everyone could see a romance had taken root. Irasci's anger all but left him when he saw Lisski's bright smile, and Lisski thrilled at his kind words and compliments—so different from the ridicule and complaints of disappointment she had heard all her days. Lisski felt a joy she did not know existed the day Irasci asked her to join the Strikehammer Kin.
