Kitchen 1/30
Some minor details were touched up on Friday, such as gluing down the back splash and putting on the floor molding. Not much, but it made a big visual difference in the room. The fridge cabinet is still MIA and a new problem popped up: one of the back splash pieces was sent the wrong size and is about 4 inches too short. Scott will need to come back to get that done once it is delivered. Hopefully the cabinet and this final piece will arrive at the same time and he can be done. I am sure he likes this kitchen, but he must be getting tired of seeing it so much.
Finally got some sunlight! Here are pictures with no flash, so it is about as close as possible to the actual colors.
With the back splash in place, there is little left to do except move in. I started unpacking my kitchen items and arranging everything. I have lots of cabinet space, but I am filling it all up!
I found some special decorated switchplates and bought three for the main light switches near the doorways and sink. The rest of the cover plates I will paint myself to match. I am considering painting the dishwasher as well to make it match the rest of the appliances. It works so there was no need to replace it right away. Eventually we will get a black model so it fits in with the rest of the room.
This is now by far the best room in the house. It went from worst to first in no time. The ceiling still needs attention and we hope to get that fixed up by the Fall. The ceiling is more than just an eyesore: it is sagging badly and putting pressure on the cabinets. Below is a detailed shot of the molding around the base of the cabinets. Ignore the dust....
To the left is the pantry corner all finished. I am storing all the baking supplies and pans in this area away from the day-to-day items.
Here is a close up of the spiffy switch plate I bought. It went so well with the kitchen, I had to splurge.
Don't ya just feel so bad for this cat?
